The history of the Pavol Jozef Safarik University (UPJS)
goes back to the year 1660.
It has existed in its current
form since 1959. Currently more than 7,500 students
are studying there in five faculties, who are supervised
by 1,250 employees and lecturers.
At over71 years old, the medical faculty is the oldest faculty
at the university and has been offering English-language
studies for over 20 years and has had its new
branch in Prague since autumn 2021.
The university
is very popular with international students.
The university also offers you the opportunity to take
the first US exams (USMLE) in addition to the European
exam. Partner universities such as the University
of Bonn or the Philipps University of Marburg and
the “Erasmus+” program underline the international
orientation of the university.

Requirements and Application
You can obtain a university place without a sole focus on your final high school grades; all you will need is a qualification allowing you to study at a university, such as a high school diploma. Admission takes place via the university’s own entrance test and a motivational interview. MediStart prepares you optimally for both. Therefore, you should have taken at least two of these three natural sciences consistently in high school and completed them with very good grades.
